School of Social Science
Why study social science with us?
We strive to understand, analyse, describe and explain the human world and our position in it -to make sense of our rapidly changing global culture. Our academics are conducting research into anti-corruption and criminal justice, meaning that as part of this school you'll be rubbing shoulders with world-class policy makers and social information leaders.
Hear from the acting head of our school, Associate Professor Anna-Mart van Wyk.
Professional recognition
Our degrees are relevant and professionally recognised. The newly created Bachelor of Social Science degree is designed to align more closely with prospective employers' expectations - you'll leave Monash with a distinctive edge over your BA peers, especially when applying for jobs. And you can specialise in fields like psychology (the ten unit major is accredited by the Health Professions Council of South Africa and Psychological Society of South Africa), international studies, child and youth development and media and communication.
Or of you'd like to study a truly global degree, maybe the Bachelor of Arts is for you - it makes studying overseas compulsory.
