Monash 50th Anniversary and Cultural Day Celebration

The Monash South Africa 50th Anniversary and Cultural Day Celebration will take place on the sports field on 3 October 2008.  The celebration will begin from 12:00 onwards and all staff, their families and students are invited. People can partake as part of a group, team or department or independently. We expect at least one potjie from every department!

Each team that enters will be allocated an area on the field.  Monash will provide an umbrella and a table and chairs for each team.  Each team member will also be provided with a drink voucher.  The teams participating in the potjiekos competition will also be provided with a braai, charcoal and a cast iron pot.

The potjies are prepared to be enough for the judges to taste and for the team to enjoy afterwards.  Hot Spot will prepare a potjie with food for the spectators not taking part as a team. 

The team of judges will consist of MSA Board members and Board members from Australia - the rules for the competition are listed on the entry form.

There will be prizes for the Potjiekos Competition and a lucky draw for participants in the Cultural Dish event.  The prizes for the Potjiekos Competition are as follows: 1st prize - Clearwater/Restaurant voucher to the value of R3000, 2nd prize - Clearwater/Restaurant voucher for the value of R2000, 3rd prize - Clearwater/Restaurant voucher to the value of R1000.

A DJ will provide music during the afternoon and there will be performances by cultural groups and societies.

We hope that this event will create an opportunity to meet new people and those you haven’t seen for some time, to get to know each other better and more importantly, to have fun!
