Monash 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

The Monash South Africa 10 Year Anniversary Celebration will take place on the sports field on Friday 7 October 2011. The event will begin from 10:00am and all staff and students are invited.  

A DJ will provide music during the afternoon for people to enjoy and dance to.  A Sumo wrestling matt as well as a Zorb ramp has been arranged for all to enjoy.  There will also be two competitions, a Cultural Dish competition for the students, and a Potjiekos competition for staff members.

Each team (Potjiekos teams included) must decorate their stand according to a theme of their choice as part of the competition. Please note that spaces are limited and each department can only enter one team.

Every team that enters will be allocated an area on the field.  Advancement will provide the following for each team:

1. One table
2. Two umbrellas
3. Six chairs
4. Two bags of charcoal (potjiekos entries only) 

Cast iron pots and tablecloths can be ordered from Advancement. If equipment is lost or returned late, the department will be billed for it.

The potjies and cultural dishes are prepared to be enough for the judges to taste and for the team to enjoy afterwards.  A potjie will be prepared for spectators not taking part as a team. 

The prizes for both competitions are as follows:

1st prize - Cresta voucher to the value of R1500
2nd prize - Cresta voucher for the value of R1000
3rd prize - Cresta voucher to the value of R500

We hope that this event will create an opportunity to meet new people and those you haven’t seen for some time, to get to know each other better and more importantly, to have fun celebrating Monash's 10 years in South Africa.
