The Fee Cycle

The fee assessment process for Semester One begins in
  • January for continuing students; and
  • February for commencing students

The fee assessment process for Semester Two begins in

  • June for continuing students; and
  • July for commencing students

During the months indicated above, students are issued with an Enrolment Details and Fee Statement, which reflects their unit enrolment and Rand value due for the relevant Semester (or year if undertaking a Full Year Unit), via their official Monash student e-mail account.

After the initial fee assessment, Student Fees run a weekly invoicing process which identifies any:

  • Late enrolments requiring a fee invoice; and
  • Changes to enrolment which result in a fee variation to that shown on the initial fee invoice.

New Enrolment Details and Fee Statements with their new payment due dates are then issued to the relevant students via their official Monash student e-mail accounts.

Examples

No financial implication on Enrolment Detail and Fee Statement if the following change to enrolment occurs:

John Smith was originally fee assessed for the enrolled unit French (FRN1010):

Tuition Fees = R4,505 with a due date 31st of July

On the 30th of July John discontinues from French (FRN1010) and added Psychology (PSY1022) with a tuition fee of R4,505. The enrolment change has not affected his debt to Monash South Africa.

Financial implication on Enrolment Detail and Fee Statement if the following change to enrolment occurs:

John Smith was originally fee assessed for the enrolled unit French (FRN1010):

Tuition Fees = R4,505 with a due date 31st of July

On the 30th of July John adds an additional semester unit (PSY1022) with a tuition fee of R4,505 to his enrolment and is reassessed. The change means his tuition fee has increased. A new Enrolment Detail and Fee Statement is issued with a new payment due date for the additional payment of 10th of August.

Or

John Smith was originally fee assessed for:

Tuition Fees = R4,505 with a due date 31st of July

On the 30th of July John adds a full year unit (CSE3200) and is reassessed. The change means his tuition fees will increase by R9,010 and his due date for additional payment will be the 10th of August.
