´Live Your Dream Life´ seminar held at Monash South Africa

8 July 2008

The Monash South Africa Student Women’s Forum (SWF) recently hosted a “Live Your Dream Life” seminar on campus, the aim of which was to empower young women to identify their dreams and yearnings for greatness, to take the initiative to decide their own future and to brand themselves accordingly.

“One lesson that was learned throughout the seminar was that brilliance is achievable regardless of circumstance,“ said Pamella Motlhageng, Chairperson of the SWF, ”It is in fact, all a matter of believing you can achieve, seizing the moment and harnessing opportunities to use to your advantage.”

“We hear every day that a positive attitude, alongside hard work, will reap fine results. But we do need to be reminded by those who have achieved success.”

“This seminar was a fantastic and we were reminded that excellence is a state of mind and that that with the right confident attitude, it can be accomplished.”

The SWF was launched at Monash South Africa last year. The objectives include providing a platform for students to realise their potential to and to take the reigns of leadership positions in their respective fields.

The guest speaker Ms Matty Reid, who is well known for grooming Miss South Africa winners for the Miss Universe pageants, said: “If you want to catch the bus of life, you have to make the first move. Just because you are not in the forefront, does not mean that you cannot lead from behind.”
