MSA hosts Annual Conference of the Philosophical Society of Southern Africa

For the first time, the annual three-day Conference of the Philosophical Society of Southern Africa was hosted Department of Philosophy, in the Monash South Africa School of Arts from 20 to 22 January 2010.
The two keynote addresses at the conference were delivered by Professor Alessandro Ferrara, of the University of Rome and Prof William Sweet of St Francis Xavier University, Canada.
Dr Pieter Duvenage, Head of the Philosophy Department at Monash South Africa, said: “We were delighted to host of this very successful conference attended by about 74 philosophers from universities throughout Southern Africa as well as from overseas.”
At the Annual General Meeting held during the conference, Prof Emma Ruttkamp, University of Johannesburg, was elected President of the Society and Prof Braam Olivier, from the University of Fort Hare, was elected Editor of the Official Journal for the Society.
