Monash South Africa Residential Services Vision Statement

Our vision is to set the standard for the delivery of exceptional University on-campus accommodation with associated services and facilities and we are committed to their continuous improvement.

Mission Goals

To provide and develop an environment:

  • which provides care, support and enrichment for the residential community in academic, cultural, personal, social and recreational matters;
  • which has regard for the individual and group needs of the residential population, bearing in mind the multi cultural nature of each residential building and the wider Monash Community;
  • which recognises and values diversity (e.g. nationalities, beliefs, abilities, talents, interests, etc); that creates opportunities for mutually beneficial interaction between the members of the residential community;
  • that is secure living and which safeguards the health, safety and general welfare of all members of the residential community;
  • that supports and contributes to the future strategic direction of Monash South Africa.

On-Campus Residence - Fully managed by Monash South Africa

Residences 1, 2 and 3 - Four-bedroom apartments
Features:

  • Self-catering units with four single bedrooms per unit
  • Two bathrooms per unit
  • Kitchen with a four plate stove, two fridges, table and chairs and a microwave oven.
  • Living room
  • Internet access points in all bedrooms (computers not supplied)
  • Bedrooms have built in cupboards and are furnished with a bed, bedside table, desk, chair and curtains. Bedside lamps and linen is not supplied.

Residence 4 - Six-bedroom apartments
Features:

  • Self catering units with six bedrooms per unit (single and shared)
  • Two bathrooms per unit
  • Kitchen with four plate stove, two fridges, table and six chairs and a balcony off the kitchen
  • Internet access points in all bedrooms (computers not supplied)
  • Bedrooms have built in cupboards and are furnished with a bed, bedside table, desk, chair and curtains. Bedside lamps and linen is not supplie

Off-Campus Residence Fully managed by Monash South Africa

Honey Park
Monash South Africa introduces new off campus accommodation known as Honey Park. Honey Park comprises of 3 complexes, Ironwood, Rosewood & Redwood situated approximately 5km from the campus.
We believe it is important to provide hassle free student accommodation, which allows students to focus on their studies in comfort, safety and security. No matter which property you decide to live in, you will have all the benefits of our caring, personal and friendly management service.
I encourage you to consider the following points as I believe they demonstrate the clear advantages associated at Honey Park.
Rental: Each Unit comprises of 2 bedrooms.
The accommodation includes the following benefits for residents:

  • 24 hour access to the E-MAIL.
  • Access to laundry facilities
  • FREE use of and access to vacuum cleaners. Available from the Residence Assistant on presentation of your Student ID card.
  • FREE use of and access to a communal area.
  • Access to and participation in a wide range of social events.
  • FREE car parking on acquiring a Resident Parking Permit.
  • 24-hour security and access control.
  • There is a residential support team in place who are there to maintain a constant and stablising presence; providing care, support and enrichment for resident students in personal, social and recreational matters.
  • ALL bedrooms are carpeted, and are furnished with a bed, desk, desk chair, and wardrobes.
  • FREE shuttle service to Featherbrooke and Clearwater. 
  • Access to printing facility.

    Residence 6 - Privately managed by the Body Corporate

    From 2011 Residence 6 will be managed entirely by the Body Corporate and its rental agents. All infrastructural upkeep, maintenance, security and the provision of a cleaning service will be their responsibility.

    The placement of students and the collection of rental will also be the responsibility of the Body Corporate and its rental agents.
    It should be emphasised that all service delivery issues and problems must be channeled to the Body Corporate via its rental agents for attention and action.
    Students who would like to apply for accommodation in Res 6 next year
    must therefore approach the rental agents directly.

    Please note: Fees are payable on a semester basis. Fees are due prior to semester commencement.

    Resident welfare and support

    Resident Support Team At MSA Residence, there are ten Residential Advisors.RA's are appointed to provide support and assistance to all residents living on - campus. RA's are available at all times to respond to any residential student welfare or emergency needs.

    Off-campus accommodation

    Monash South Africa aims to inform and educate students about their housing options and tenancy rights and responsibilities, by providing an "Off Campus Housing Information Service". This service provides information and resources specifically related to off campus housing. These include a Renting Information Guide and related links to the Rental Housing Act and the Consumer Affairs South Africa.
