Mbasa Ngumla

Graduated: 2003

"The lecturers were great and I loved their enthusiasm. The facilities, particularly the library, are excellent. The world is so dynamic and these facilities helped keep us informed of what is currently happening. The many parties we had were another highlight."

Mbasa is currently working for the Department of Education.

Laila Soer - 2003

From: Groningen, Holland
Course: Bachelor of Arts (Communications and media studies/ geography and environmental science)
Graduated: 2003

"Being given the opportunity to be the president of the student association as well as being part of the first class to graduate from Monash South Africa were highlights for me. I have met some amazing people during my time here at Monash and will always look back with fondest memories."

Laila is currently studying a masters degree in sustainable development in Holland.

Kai Grunwald (Valedictorian 2003)

From: Johannesburg , South Africa
Course: Bachelor of Business Systems
Graduated: 2003

"I think we have been pioneers as well as guinea pigs. Being part of the decision-making process added a different dimension to our degree. It's all about living in the small picture and living for the big picture."

Kai was offered a top IT job less than a month after writing his final exams. He is also studying the Master of Business Systems through Monash University, Australia.

Velislav (Villy) Milchev

"I've loved all the great friendships I've built over the past three years. It was absolutely fantastic to be part of the first group of students at the new Monash University South Africa . Also, going to Melbourne and studying at Monash's Caulfield campus was one of the greatest experiences I had."

Villy has started his own company.

Nketso Dintwe

From: Gaborone, Botswana
Course: Bachelor of Arts
Graduated: 2004

"The three Spring Balls and all the parties were fun. I also enjoyed making friends with students of different nationalities. Monash South Africa is the best!"

Nketso would like to work in the field of communications in Botswana. She would like to produce her own weekly talk show on Botswana Television and eventually open her own television production company. She also started her own company.

Yu-Tzu Chang (Susan)

From: Taiwan
Course: Bachelor of Business and Commerce
Graduated: 2004

"At Monash I was known by name and not by student number. People are also extremely friendly. The small classes encouraged me to provide my own views and opinions in discussions."

Susan is currently working in Taiwan. This is another testimony that Monash South Africa is internationally recognized throughout the world.

Josey Da Silva

"The best things about Monash South Africa are the amazing variety of people as well as the friendly staff and lecturers. Highlights include the three Spring Balls."

Josey is taking a break from his studies visiting family in Italy. He intends pursuing a career in IT project management.

Godfrey Hlongwane

Godfrey is currently participating in a graduate training programme at Oracle. His long-term goal is to become a systems analyst.
