Sports Management Short Course

Commercial Aspects of Sport

Course overview

Over the past 10 years the sports management environment has become a global playing field. Our national sports teams have re-integrated into international sport and South Africa has succeeded in attracting some of the world’s premier sports events.

Our sporting environment is unique in that the majority of our people have not had the sporting opportunities they deserve and in many cases this inequality continues.

It is crucial that the modern South African sports administrator understands the unique demand of the local industry while simultaneously adapting to the international sports environment.

Certificates of Competence

The certificates of competence for all courses are awarded for the successful completion of all tasks set by the lecturer, including essays, assignments, projects, tests and exams and attendance at 80% of the lectures. Note in the case of deadlines for assignments, projects or hand-in exams we adhere very strictly to times as set by the lecturer. Certificates of competence are issued within 6 weeks of the publication of results and will need to be collected from the Monash SA offices (we do not post because of possible damage to the certificates). Replacement certificates of competence will only be issued in very rare circumstances following a written request and explanation; there will be a R100 charge for a replacement certificate.

Certificates of Attendance

We issue certificates of attendance on request, for those participants who chose not to comply with assessment requirements but who do attend 80% of the classes. It is important to sign the attendance register at each lecture. Certificates of attendance are statements that you were present in class and do not indicate that any level of competence of understanding has been achieved. No replacement certificates of attendance are issued.

Note: The qualification will only be awarded if full payment of the relevant training workshop has been received.
