Research Administration

The following support services are being rendered by the Research Directorate at Monash South Africa:

  • Research output management

  • Administration of payment of page fees for publications in accredited journals on submission of invoices.
  • Administration of payment of editing fees for publications – (Three quotations to be provided to the Research Administrator before a supplier is appointed)

  • Administration of Higher Degrees by Research

      • Appointment of supervisors as requested by schools

Research Capacity Building Programme

The Office of the DPVC Research offers an annual Research Training Programme based on the needs of the various schools.  For discipline specific research training academic staff can contact the Research Administrator, Ms Hester Stols on Ext. 4143.

External funding

Monash South Africa has received approval to participate in the funding opportunities provided by the National Research Foundation (NRF).  There is a vast amount of funding available in various research fields.  The Office of the DPVC Research therefore encourages all Monash South Africa academic staff to make use of this opportunity to obtain external funding as well as to apply to be rated by the NRF.

Research Software Available

  • Nvivo - Qualitative data analysis software.
  • Microfit - This package offers a variety of univariate and multivariate estimation methods and provides a large number of diagnostic and non-tested tests.
  • Qualtrics - Survey Software  Qualtrics combines exceptional ease of use with an advanced set of features. Some of the new capabilities of Qualtrics include; a wizard to help build surveys, integrated sending and tracking of e-mail invitations and integrated graphics and statistical tools.
  • Matlab - Can be used in a wide range of applications, including financial modeling and analysis as well as developing algorithms and applications
